A Mouse Story

A long, long time ago this little mouse was created for my niece who was about three. We had seen one like it at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. She had loved it so much that if I recall correctly the only way we could get her to leave it was for Aunt Shell, that is me, to promise to try and make her one. At least six years later I get a distressed phone call that Libby, the niece, had taken her to school and then ballet and she was lost. Was there anyway we could make a new one? Of course the answer was yes, my nieces have pretty well figured out all they have to do is point their cute little faces my direction and say "Please Aunt Shell?". Well luckily Miss Mouse was found in the parking lot at ballet but now we were in full mouse assembly mode and Miss Abby needed one too.

That is how these fine little folk came to be. I started with the brown one, luckily I found the same scrap of leather I used for the first one because apparently it is important to be able to wrap the little tail around your finger. Upon consultation though Miss Abby explained that a pink mouse really would be nice (see, cute face pointed my direction). So the brown mouse became the husband.

If you are having a pink mouse then naturally she should wear bright colors and live in a pink house. Her poor husband isn't nearly as fashionable however. I made the house from the pattern that is over there on my sidebar. It really isn't quite as wonky as it looks in this picture.
So that is the story of the little mice that went to live with Libby and Abby. I have more cut out, I may try and put a set in the shop. What do you think? Do you like the original or the pink version better? Anyone want a mouse at their house?

They are adorable. The original is my favorite one. The house is darling! I could handle that kind of mouse at my house!
