I stayed up late the other night watching The Ghost and Mrs. Muir on pbs. I have heard of this movie before but I think I was a bit put off by the ghost idea. But there was nothing on and before I knew it i was pretty well sucked in. Gene Tierney was so pretty and sweet and Rex Harrison was actually pretty fun as an old sea captain. I really quite enjoyed myself! So it got me to thinking about old black and white movies and now I am really in the mood for some more. My friend Tif always has good recommendations so I requested a few of hers. But I am wondering, what is your favorite old black and white movie?

I love old black and white movies. I call them violin movies because there is ALWAYS violins playing to accompany the action :)
My favorite? Impossible to narrow down! Anything with Cary Grant. Arsenic and Old Lace is a particularly good one :)
I have two favorites.. (did I already say these?) You Can't Take it With You.. Harvey.. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.. The More the Merrier.. The Thin Man and To Kill a Mockingbird and.. I guess that's a few more than 2.. oh well.

Ooooh, Arsenic and Old Lace is a great one! To Kill a Mockingbird has got to be my all time favorite though. I remember watching The Ghost and Mrs. Muir with my mom when I was a kid. We also watched a lot of Alfred Hitchcock movies....Rear Window, fabulous!
I have to ditto everyone else with the To Kill a Mockingbird... my all time favorite movie! I also love The Grapes of Wrath... and of course Alfred Hitchcock... I seem to recall the first time seeing Rear Window was with you! That movie is AWESOME! All of his are!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the Doris Day movies... they're in color, but still wonderful!! Makes me want to get a good old movie to watch!
